Why this training

The journey

Join Gianluca and Deborah, founders of Senses and Breathwork Sri Lanka, on a transformational path to becoming a breathwork facilitator. This is an intimate, heart-led experience shaped by eight years of embodied practice and facilitation.

Though online, this journey is deeply interactive, and you will not walk it alone. We are here with you every step of the way, guiding and supporting you with weekly 1-on-1 and group calls, and holding space as you grow into your role as a facilitator.

This is one of the most comprehensive and soulful breathwork trainings available, a carefully curated experience designed to take you from curious student to confident, certified space holder. You will receive not only practical knowledge and professional tools, but also the energetic and emotional guidance needed to truly embody this work.

To become a breathwork facilitator is to answer a sacred calling: to guide others through their healing with compassion, presence and integrity. If you feel the pull toward healing, service and self-discovery, you already carry the seed of what it takes.

Whether you are a therapist expanding your offerings, a yoga teacher deepening your students' journeys, or a soul drawn to the power of breath, now is the time to step forward, trust the path, and remember who you came here to be.

Our approach

Breath, not trends

In a world of branded techniques and trademarked breathwork styles, our training offers something different. We don't follow a single method, nor do we present our work under a trendy spiritual name. The breath is the same everywhere. What changes everything is how you hold it, and the skill, sensitivity and ethics you bring to it. That is what you will learn with us.

We guide you into a deep and holistic understanding of how breath affects body, mind and spirit. You will learn the physiology of breathing, the energetics of breath and the subtle art of presence, so you can create sessions that meet people exactly where they are. Rather than fitting your clients into a fixed method, you will develop the skill and sensitivity to adapt your approach to their unique needs.

While we honour the many schools and lineages that have shaped the breathwork field, our path is one of integration, embodiment and authenticity, grounded in science and psychology and supported by spirit. That is why our graduates teach in 10 different countries, in studios, schools, hospitals and psychology sessions, using approaches tailored to their communities and to the methods they feel most called to share.

The curriculum

What you will master

A complete education in the breath, the body and the craft of holding space, taught by facilitators and licensed professionals.

Modern & ancient breathwork modalities

A complete toolkit, from contemporary methods to time-honoured traditions:

  • Conscious Connected Breathing, the cornerstone of modern breathwork sessions
  • Breath Awakening Meditation, for stillness and depth
  • Holotropic and transpersonal breathing, psychedelic-style journeys
  • Trauma and inner child healing, gentle, attuned approaches
  • Somatic breathwork, body-based release journeys
  • Cold exposure breathwork, for ice baths and resilience
  • Traditional pranayama, the classical yogic breath disciplines

You will also learn quick, accessible techniques to regulate the nervous system in everyday life, pairing simple breath patterns with body-based exercises clients can use anywhere.

How we teach

We do not hand you a trademarked method to copy. The breath we teach, Conscious Connected Breathing, is the same breath taught across the field, and we are honest about that. What we teach you is how to hold it, weaving four elements into one experience your clients feel as a whole:

  • Bodywork, to support safety and somatic release
  • Emotional awareness, to hold whatever arises
  • Intuitive presence, to lead from the heart
  • Sound healing, to integrate the journey

Therapeutic foundation

Learn directly from a licensed psychotherapist how breath becomes a clinical tool, applied with precision and care to anxiety and chronic stress, fear and emotional armouring, trauma and nervous system dysregulation, and reconnection to self. You will leave able to hold space for these states with confidence, and to know your limits as a facilitator, not a therapist.

Anatomy & physiology

Build a working understanding of the respiratory system, the vagus nerve and the breath-body-brain connection. You will know exactly why breathwork works, and be able to explain it to your clients with the confidence of a real practitioner.

Lineage & evolution

Trace breathwork's path from ancient yogic and shamanic traditions to today's clinical applications. You will honour where this work came from and understand where it is going.

Facilitation frameworks

Field-tested session structures for 1-on-1, couples and group journeys. Step-by-step guidance you can use from day one, flexible enough to evolve as your own style develops.

Small cohorts, lifetime support

Maximum 12 students per cohort means real attention, real feedback and a real teacher-student relationship, not a webinar with a chat box.

Founders & facilitators

Deborah and Gianluca

Deborah and Gianluca, founders of Senses and Breathwork Sri Lanka, standing together

Deb and Gi have practised, studied and shared breathwork for eight years, across several schools and lineages.

They are also certified yoga teachers, sound therapists and bodywork practitioners, and they have woven all three into a session format of their own, “The Senses Experience”, which you will learn in full.

Every month they hold space for hundreds of people who travel here to feel it, in the purpose-built studio at Senses, wrapped in an immersive sound system and light design. They hold each session together, the masculine and the feminine side by side, so the space stays supportive and inclusive for everyone.

The professional team

Experienced facilitators, medical professionals, psychologists and neuroscientists.

Katherina, psycho- and somatic therapist at Senses

Katherina, lead psychologist

A psycho- and somatic therapist who helps people recover from trauma and release body-stored emotion. She specialises in somatic therapy, CBT and trauma-informed practice.

She developed the psychological chapters of this training, the reason you leave it as a genuinely trauma-informed facilitator, not just an enthusiastic one.

@wildheartedtherapy
Anna Jensma, neuroscientist

Anna Jensma · Neuroscientist

A neuroscientist and long-term meditation, yoga and pranayama practitioner. Long retreats in India and Nepal led her into an MSc in Clinical and Translational Neurosciences, graduating cum laude, and later psychedelic research at Imperial College London. For Senses she reviewed the breathwork facilitator training to make sure its neuroscience is sound and honest about what the science does and does not show.

How it works

A training beyond the screen

Where intimacy meets integrity.

There are no shortcuts on the path to becoming a breathwork facilitator. This work requires commitment, presence and time, for study, for practice, and for integration. We believe two months is a spacious, grounded window to begin this transformation. Because travelling abroad for that length of time can be difficult or costly, we designed this training to be fully online, yet deeply interactive and personal.

This is not a self-paced course you move through alone. You will be held, supported and gently held accountable throughout the whole journey, from the very first module to your graduation ceremony.

Each week you receive carefully structured study material to explore at your own rhythm. Then, every Sunday at 1pm CET, we gather for a live 3-hour call to review what you have learned, ask questions, share experiences and practise together. These live sessions are where community, connection and real learning unfold.

This is a true 100-hour training, rich with content and embodied experience. Alongside the core material, you receive a curated selection of books and articles to deepen your knowledge well beyond the training itself.

To support your integration and growth further: every Wednesday you can book a 1-on-1 mentorship slot with your teachers, and you are paired with a fellow trainee as a support buddy, a mirror for encouragement, reflection and shared practice.

After you graduate

More than a training. We care about your future.

Free internship and lifetime mentorship.

Have you asked yourself what happens after you graduate? Often, when a course ends, students have to start looking for a place to share their offering, wondering how and where. It can be daunting. When you train with us, you have a real studio and community that always has your back.

You are invited into our WhatsApp community, a warm, welcoming space with all the facilitators who have trained with us, where you can connect with someone who lives near you and perhaps assist an in-person session. From our side, you have a lifetime of continued support through mentorship calls, and you can always come to Sri Lanka for a free internship at Senses, assisting us or one of our teachers in any in-person session, for as long as you want, for free, always. That is our commitment to you.

Investment

Investment in your future career

What you receive: 100 hours of education · internship at Senses · lifetime mentorship and community · worldwide recognised certification · career launch support after graduation.

Recoup your investment quickly: at a typical group rate of €30 to €50 per participant across around 15 attendees, many graduates repay the training within two months of teaching.

Graduate stories

Where our graduates are now

Two of the practitioners who trained with us, and what they built afterwards.

Rebekka, breathwork facilitator trained at Senses
After years as an ICU nurse, I knew breath and physiology from the inside out and I had experienced the power of breathwork myself. Senses training enriched my medical expertise in a way I had never imagined, bringing it all together.

In their words

What our graduates tell us

You can see all the hard work, thought and experience that has gone into this programme. I love that you are both normal, approachable and knowledgeable, with no big egos. Most importantly, you are helping us become grounded facilitators who hold a safe space.
MaryUK
I explored many different trainings before choosing this one, and most had very high costs. This one offered a fair price and real value for what I received.
MichelaItaly
What made the difference is your ethics and the way you share, authentic and loving, in every session, in your availability, in your feedback. My intuition was right to study breathwork, and even more to do it with you both.
SalouaSwitzerland
I actually feel ready to facilitate. I did not think I would, but the three practical exams were a huge help and I am looking forward to teaching longer sessions.
LeaAustria
The community we are now part of is incredible, supportive and welcoming. Loving our yearly gatherings.

Certification

Not only a certificate

Senses is a fully registered and licensed establishment in Sri Lanka and a Yoga Alliance accredited school, which allows us to certify you to teach anywhere in the world. We are also an organisational member of the International Breathwork Foundation, a global non-profit for everyone devoted to Conscious Connected Breathing. On completion you receive a Breathwork Facilitator certificate and can start offering your sessions anywhere in the world.

We wanted this to be much more than a certificate. We crafted the whole programme so it is an invaluable, transformative experience of healing and self-growth, so that, having gone through that process yourself, you can support and help others heal.

Good to know

Questions people ask us

Pricing

Is the investment worth it?

We believe this is one of the most comprehensive and value-for-money courses available. In Sri Lanka a group session averages €15 per participant, and with around 15 participants the whole training can be repaid after only 6 sessions. In Europe, group sessions average €30 to €50 per participant and privates run from €150 upward, so under two months of teaching pays it off.

I registered but cannot attend, can I get a refund?

Yes, as money or credit. Money: cancel within 30 days of the start for 70% back (minus bank fees), within 14 days for 50%, after that no refund.

Credit: we can credit 100% of your training at any time, to join the next training or any within 12 months.

Breathwork & course content

Who can benefit from a breathwork facilitator training?

Anyone with a passion for holistic wellness and a desire to help others: yoga teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, life coaches, and anyone drawn to personal growth and self-healing.

Do I need prior experience?

No. The programme suits beginners and the experienced alike. We do encourage you to join an online session or book a call first, so you get to know your teachers.

I'm not sure about an online training, will I feel supported?

This is not videos you watch alone. It is highly interactive: we meet online every week for two months, reviewing the previous week, practising together, setting the next week's study, with time for Q&A, and we are available between calls.

What if I cannot attend a live call?

The live calls are mandatory, held on Sundays at 1pm CET, a day and time chosen to work across time zones. You may skip a maximum of two, which can be recuperated at the end. We make it work.

Is this training certified?

Yes. On completion you receive a breathwork facilitator certification. We uphold the standards of the International Breathwork Foundation.

What are the requirements for certification?

Complete all modules, attend the required practical sessions, pass the assessments and demonstrate proficiency facilitating a session.

How can I use my certification?

Facilitate sessions for individuals and groups, integrate breath into your existing practice (yoga, therapy, coaching), and offer workshops and retreats. If you do not feel ready, come to Senses for your internship and assist until you are.

Internship

Is the internship mandatory?

No, it is optional. The training is fully completed online with the live calls. But if Sri Lanka is on your list, the internship is a beautiful way to end the training.

Internship at Senses

Something we wish we had had. Hosting your first public session can be frightening. We keep meeting facilitators who feel unready, and we promised ourselves never to let that happen to our trainees. So you can join us at Senses for as long as you need. There are breathwork classes each week you can assist until you feel fully comfortable, and when you are ready, tell us, and we will give you a slot on the schedule for your first session.
