A conscious community
We came together at Senses to build a conscious community on the south coast of Sri Lanka, teachers, facilitators and practitioners who wanted somewhere honest to gather.

Yoga · Breathwork · Ecstatic Dance · Sound Healing
One collective in two homes: a living fruit farm in Midigama, Ahangama on Sri Lanka’s south coast, where it began, and a dedicated retreat and training centre in the rice fields just outside Ubud, Bali. Same teachers, same community, same way of working.
Who we are
Senses is a collective of teachers, facilitators and practitioners rooted in authentic practice and guided by genuine commitment to our students' wellbeing. We have spent years deepening our own embodied knowledge in breathwork, yoga, somatic practices and sound healing, and we show up each day to share what we have learned. We are dedicated to the practice itself and to creating compassionate, authentic space for your healing and growth. When you practise with us, you are learning from facilitators who truly live and breathe this work.
We believe transformation happens when you come back to your body, and we are here to help you find your way home.
The collective

Founders · lead breathwork facilitators
Deb and Gi have practised, studied and shared breathwork for eight years, across several schools and lineages. They started Senses at the Midigama Fruit Farm, and lead the studio and the brand's direction to this day.
Breathwork is their shared life's mission, one they hold with the utmost integrity and reverence, in their trainings and in the weekly sessions at the studio.

Omaya Senarathna is a Sri Lankan yoga teacher, sound healer and facilitator, rooted in intuitive movement, traditional Hatha and mindful flow.
She is the founder of Sarana, a community telling the Sri Lankan story through culture, art and history.

Sound healing facilitators
Soulravel weaves yoga, sound, movement and community into a living practice. Trained facilitators running YACEP certified sound healing practitioner trainings between Europe and Sri Lanka, they bring the sound journeys and gong, bowl and voice work that hold our sound healing offerings.
Their thread is presence: helping people hear themselves more clearly and meet life with steadiness.

His practice is grounded, steady and warm, and he loves guiding students back into their bodies.

Yoga teacher and retreat facilitator
Rosie teaches in the Himalayan Yog Vedanta and Tantra lineage, a tradition passed from teacher to student for thousands of years. After years in acting and city life, she found her way to yoga as a practice of becoming honest with herself, and now lives close to the ocean in Sri Lanka.
Her classes work with breath, mudra, mantra, kriya and movement, and her retreats are small and intentional, holding space for people to turn inward and let something shift. She is the founder of Heart Temple.

With a background in science and training in Chinese Medicine, she integrates ancient wisdom with modern knowledge, having studied with respected teachers such as Paul Grilley, Denise Payne and Sarah Power. Her approach creates an accessible, non judgmental space where students can soften, release and reconnect with balance and authenticity.

What we stand for

We came together at Senses to build a conscious community on the south coast of Sri Lanka, teachers, facilitators and practitioners who wanted somewhere honest to gather.

Immersed in the beauty and the sounds of the jungle, with no road or traffic passing nearby. The nature here does half the work for you.

Senses is a home to truly take time for yourself. Come for a class, stay for the nature immersion. Have a fruit juice straight from the farm. Pet a cow. Meditate in our meditation garden. You are welcome to stay as long as you like.

Our practices are accessible to everybody, no matter your level, your body type or shape, your religion or your ethnicity.
Our story

In 2022, Gi and Deb were looking for a space, simply somewhere to host their breathwork teacher trainings and gather with likeminded people. They found the Midigama Fruit Farm, learned its history, and knew instantly.
Further inland, away from the hustle of Midigama, the shalas sit surrounded by trees, plants and wildlife, complete with a Buddhist meditation garden that goes back to the 1940s and 50s, when the old owner would host meditation classes and vipassana retreats there.
Not long after taking on the space, Gi and Deb were inundated with messages from holistic teachers wanting to contribute. From those first moments the community blossomed in the most beautifully organic way.
During the daytime the space is always open for you to retreat, chant, meditate, work or simply be, in solitude or in company. From the open-air shala, where you can practise surrounded by nature or dance under the stars on the bare earth, to the indoor shala built as a safe, vibrating container for sound baths and gatherings.

Giving back
Every Senses teacher training includes one full scholarship for a Sri Lankan student. Same shala, same hours, same certificate at the end, fully gifted.
This is not a marketing programme. It is the duty of being a yoga school on Sri Lankan soil, and one we are honoured to fulfil. Sri Lankan nationals are also welcome at everything we offer on a voluntary donation basis.

“Some places don't just host you, they hold you. Senses Sri Lanka did exactly that from the very first moment. As a Sri Lankan, stepping into this space felt like coming home in the most unexpected way. The fact that they offer discounts and donation-based options for locals means this kind of healing is genuinely accessible to us too, not just for visitors passing through.”
“I attended lots of classes and ecstatic dance at Senses while I stayed in Sri Lanka. It's a beautiful venue in the middle of nature, and the instructors and facilitation are wonderful. I am also a facilitator and yoga teacher, so I am particular about teachers and spaces, but was really impressed with what is offered at Senses. And the owners are lovely and very welcoming! Highly recommend.”
“A truly intentional sanctuary tucked away in the jungle. The shala at Senses is one of the most tranquil spaces I've experienced, perfect for deepening your wellness practice. It's rare to find a spot that balances professional wellness offerings with such raw, natural serenity. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a genuine reset.”

Walk the farm, sit in the meditation garden, stay for a farm-to-table meal. No booking needed to visit the farm.
