A collective, led by three principles

Some of us hold the trainings, some run the studio, some carry the festival and the dance events. How we work together comes down to three principles.

Heart-led facilitation

If it doesn’t come from a real place, we don’t put it in front of you. We show up authentically because we believe real connection and genuine presence are what creates meaningful change.

Community

Everywhere we go, we leave something behind for the people who live there. Sometimes a free scholarship, sometimes a donation to a local charity. Everything we do is to foster community.

Ethical approach

Science where there’s science, spirit where there’s spirit. We don’t dress the practice up in language it doesn’t need, and we don’t shy from the parts that are genuinely sacred.

Two homes and on the road

Senses lives in two places, and travels to a few more

Sri Lanka is where we started and our home base: daily classes, ceremonies, dance nights, the festival, and most of our teacher trainings. Bali is dedicated to retreats and trainings. Europe is where we pop up with events and trainings in different cities.

Senses Sri Lanka

Our home base: a working fruit farm in Midigama, Ahangama where daily classes, ceremonies, dance nights and the festival all happen, and where most of our teacher trainings run. A Buddhist meditation garden has been here since the 1940s, and a cafe serves food grown mostly on the farm.

Senses Bali

Dedicated to retreats and teacher trainings, in the green quiet outside Ubud, with a venue teachers can hire for their own groups.

Commitment to give back

We believe a sacred business should give something back to the place it stands in. So every cohort carries a funded place, and every event leaves something behind.

One place per cohort

Every teacher training we run carries a funded place for someone from the community around the school. Your training at Senses helps begin someone else's journey.

Local rates for local people

Sri Lankan practitioners pay a reduced or donation-based rate for classes and events, so the practice stays reachable for the people who live here.

A donation wherever we go

On the road and at the festival we leave something behind, sometimes a free place, sometimes a donation to a local humanitarian, animal or environmental cause.

Some places don't just host you, they hold you. Senses Sri Lanka did exactly that from the very first moment. As a Sri Lankan, stepping into this space felt like coming home in the most unexpected way. The fact that they offer discounts and donation-based options for locals means this kind of healing is genuinely accessible to us too, not just for visitors passing through.

Good to know

Questions people ask us

Are you open all year round?

We mostly move with the season, but with some exceptions. Sri Lanka is mostly active between October and April. May, June and July we are closed for a break and renovations. August and September we slowly reopen. Bali is mostly active between April and October with occasional trainings during winter. We are in Europe between April and August.

Do I need prior experience before joining a training?

It depends. The 200hr yoga teacher training asks for a consistent practice of at least a year. Sound healing and the breathwork trainings are open to committed beginners. Check the individual training page, or book a free call and we will tell you honestly.

Do I have to prebook to join a yoga class?

No, you can also walk in but if you book online you get a lower price and your spot is guaranteed. Our Shala has a limited capacity and especially during high season most classes sell out in advance. During low season in Sri Lanka (August to October) online booking is mandatory.

What are the opening hours?

Reception hours change through the week. Whatever the hour, +94 76 319 8155, we answer there fastest.

Bookings and payments

Your place is confirmed only once full payment has been received.

Payment is due at the time of booking, unless a payment plan has been agreed in writing. Payment plans may be available on request.
